Kane County Flea Market - Part 3

I read an online article last week about a 13-year old girl who found a rough diamond estimated to be worth between $15,000 and $65,000, while walking down a dusty path in one of these diamond parks open to the public, in Arkansas. How amazing is that?

Though a lot of people keep telling me that maybe it’s time I grew up, I’m still awed at the idea of discovering a treasure when you least expect it. I guess in a way that hope is in every one of us. We go on with out lives but at the same time we secretly dream of the possibility of winning the lottery, inheriting a large sum, finding treasure… generally making it big out of the blue.

For the most part the hunt is more exciting than the kill. In a similar fashion, searching for diamonds in a park is a thrilling adventure on its own, even if most people spend days on end digging, without coming up with more than ordinary pebbles. For these reasons, going to the Kane County Flea Market was a rallying activity, even if I knew from the start that I would return empty-handed, but hey, one person’s trash is another’s treasure and you never know what luck throws your way.
