Chicago Botanical Gardens, Take 1
In September of last year I visited the Chicago Botanical Gardens with a bunch of friends, not for the first time. This time I managed to take a few pictures. I don’t know why they’re called the Chicago Botanical Gardens. The only relationship they seem to have with Chicago is that they’re both in the same state: Illinois. Otherwise, the gardens themselves are located a fair distance towards the North from downtown Chicago, right between Lake and Cook counties.
I like these gardens because I love nature and by definition, there’s a lot of nature inside. They have a large lake, paths and alleys, hills and valleys, and myriad types of vegetation: trees, bushes, flowers, vegetables, grasses and whatnot. There are even swans and ducks on the lake, as well as big catfish swimming just a few inches from the surface. I was pretty amused to watch people feed the ducks, swans and fish with pieces of bread and other tasty bits.
As to my own “catchâ€, it wasn’t too rich this time because even though the weather started sunny, we were drenched by a sudden outpour, literally from out of the blue. I barely had time to stick my camera and lenses inside the bag before I was soaked to the skin. Of course, the rain stopped just as suddenly and the sun came out again from behind the clouds. In all, a nice day.
